My unit functioned very well, but did not do what I expected -- to be able to start my recorder from an adjacent room (outside the sound booth). Since it's infra-red, it's line of sight, so if you want to control your recorder from more than about six or seven feet away from the device, save your money.

What I needed was a true wireless -- or radio frequency controller, so I don't have to be able to see the recorder to turn it on.
